About Me
I am the author of Conquering Fears With Christ, Listen Close, Between Me and You, God's Prayer Power, and Storms in Life. More important, I have been a Child of God since I was seven years old when I accepted Christ and was baptized.
God has blessed me with a wonderful husband, family and friends. We moved closer to three of our children in 2020, which was during the pandemic. It was hard being quarantined and not being able to see them. But since the pandemic left, we get to be with them for dinners, birthdays and holidays. Truly this is a wonderful blessing from God and we have enjoyed every moment with them.
I have been fortunate in that I love to write and joined a writer's group in 2009. I was encouraged by their facilitator to start a writers group closer to me. When I retired from the corporate world in 2010, I co-founded a writer’s group in Collierville, Tn called Collierville Christian Writers Group (we soon shortened the name to CCWriters.) My church was kind enough to let us meet there. I felt called to get back into writing, which is my passion, as is helping others. I thought maybe six or seven people might come to the first meeting. I never dreamed twenty-three people would show up. The last get together was March 2020, the pandemic hit so meetings were disbanded during this period.
In the meantime, my husband and I decided it was time for us to move back home (Nashville, TN area) and be closer to our children. In September 2020 we sold our house and moved back home. I turned the writer's group over to Kay and Frank DiBianca in July of 2021. And the writers group started meeting again. They are going strong today. A truly wonderful group of people.
As is often the case, after the writers group started (2010), God added something that complimented my writing and experience. I felt a tug in my heart but wasn't sure what He wanted. A dear friend, who was also one of my pastors, prayed with me and for me during this period of time. Through much prayer God's leading became clear. God was leading me to start a magazine for authors. This would be a great way to help authors going forward. So, I co-founded it beginning in March 2011, and Southern Writers Magazine debuted the first magazine in July 2011. We published six issues a year, showcasing authors and their books nationally. We enjoyed being able to bring to our readers the backgrounds of the authors, their stories, and the how and why they began writing. When the pandemic hit in 2020 we closed the magazine. But I continue with my blog, Suite T, so I can showcase books by the authors, (which is totally free). Suite T so far, has had over 4.6 million views.
The pastor has since gone home to be with the Lord, but he saw the magazine come into being. Always faithful to pray for the magazine, me, and the work. He also wrote the foreword for my first book, Storms in Life.
So far, I have written over 120+ magazine articles- interviewing authors and writing their stories, three short stories, and nine anthology stories. I also had the privilege to interview a wonderful veteran and help Diane Hight, Director of Forever Young Veterans and Mike Ware along with Diane's son, Daniel, put together a book honoring veterans from WWII, Korea and the Vietnam wars. The soldiers were interviewed by some members of The Collierville Writers Group who wrote their stories. This was truly an honor. At the bottom of the page, please see the book. I've been a speaker at writer conferences, seminars, and libraries. Facilitated training programs for corporations. Was a Stephens Minister for two years, taught Discipleship Classes in Church; Sunday school classes for children, teenagers and adults. Served on various church committees; served as Ways and Means Chairperson for two years for a non-profit organization.
I am a member of the Daughters of the Revolution and a member of The First Families of Mississippi.
My husband and I live in Nashville, Tennessee. We are adjusting to being retired . . .we keep expecting an alarm clock to go off!
